BODYWORK

There are numerous Bodywork modalities used to bring awareness and improve mental, emotional, and physical states.  Many of these modalities manipulate the physical and energetic body functions into desired capacities.  These therapy methods are specific to an individual's constitutional makeup or personal preference. Bodywork methods used are typically a combination of touch, meditation and energy work techniques depending on individual needs.

Applied Kinesiology:

Motor function responses are tested against specified questions to assist individuals in evaluating the source of physical tension.  This tool is used as an aid to determine which Bodywork therapy is best for the ailment before treatment is given.  Tapping methods and gentle stretches are also used to diffuse stress responses.

Bowen Technique:

The Bowen technique was developed from the amazing work of the late Mr Tom Bowen of Geelong, Victoria. Taught and practiced all over the world since the 1980's, Bowen Therapy is now one of the fastest growing natural therapies of current times.

The Bowen technique is a not a massage technique as such. It is a very gentle and non-invasive, but extremely powerful, soft connective tissue hands-on therapy that addresses whatever is out of balance within the body.

Fascia is a specific type of connective tissue that forms a three dimensional web surrounding every tissue in the body. Considered the body's connecting web, Fascia embraces all nerves, bones, arteries, veins, organs and muscles.

The Bowen Therapy moves at specific points on the body send a message to the nervous system to rebalance the body, heal itself by affecting the fascial dysfunction(and other mechanisms) which then creates a healing response thus helping misalignments, inflammation, organ dysfunction, pain stiffness and so on.

Fascial dysfunction can affect every structure, muscle, nerve and organ in the body and Bowen Therapy directly affects the fascia which is one of the reasons that Bowen Therapy can have such profound effects.

Myofascial Energy Release:

Myofascial Energetic Release ( MER )

MER is a form of Bodywork often confused with Massage Therapy.  While  Massage therapy involves steady movements like kneading and stroking on the muscles to bring relief; Myofascial Energy Release uses pressure, breath work and customized sensory stimulation to stretch and lengthen the fascia.

MER works with a unique synthesis of deep and soft connective tissue manipulation, joint release, energy and breath work, myofascial unwinding , body awareness training as well as emotions and their expression.  MER progressively opens the bodies soft tissue layers . As we encounter stuck energy in the form of shortened, hardened tissue… we respond with sensitive touch to support the release of these energy blocks.. This activates the bodies natural ability for self correction and healing.

Movement Education - Myofascial Unwinding

Unwinding is a spontaneous movement that is inherent within the body's tissues. As the body releases it allows for these spontaneous unwinding movements, releasing physical and emotional holding patterns.  With the support and sensitivity of the practitioner a safe space is created, educating and empowering the client to listen and follow the body's natural release of trauma.  This allows the client to discover a new awareness of dysfunctional attitudes and beliefs that cause the patterns and behaviors that laid the foundations for their painful predicament.

MER must be tailored to each individual's needs, their specific complaint, and the overall condition of their physical, mental and emotional health.

LomiLomi:

These "strokes are applied with the hands and forearms and are often long and sweeping, much like long, rolling waves traveling along the body.

The foundation of lomilomi in many lineages includes the practice of a martial art, lua, which builds strength, focus, endurance and discipline. Traditional lomilomi sometimes also includes joint adjustments, although to practice that aspect of the work would require licensing as a chiropractor.

Lomilomi also includes range-of-motion work, deep-tissue techniques and, most importantly, the full presence of loving touch. Every cell is blessed to create balance (lokahi). The nervous system is encouraged to slow down, thereby creating the space for techniques to be received rather than pushing through a blockage in the muscle tissue.

Creating movement in the spine is a primary focus of lomilomi. One might even experience unwinding similar to that which occurs in myofascial release.

Lomilomi massage on the abdomen is always emphasized in traditional teachings, in order to help the elimination process and improve the energetic function of the organs. Lomilomi may also include a detoxification program and the use of herbal remedies prior to the actual bodywork.

As Nancy Kahalewai, author of Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Big Island Massage, says, massage might not be done at all; rather, the lomilomi practitioner might ask the client to return for massage after a condition has subsided." (https://www.massagemag.com/lomilomi-hawaiian-massage-87100/)

Touch Therapies:

Right Hand Path Reiki is loosely based on the Christian practice of "Laying of Hands." This hands on or hands off method is used to channel vital (Life Force Energy) to heal and balance energetic deficiencies or blockages.  The session can be done with hands on or hands off techniques and focus the treatment into specific areas to improve mental, emotional and physical unease.
